About SpexHost
Do you offer any referal programs?
Yes, if you refer two people, you will get a free account equal to the lowest purchase from either of those people. It will be active while both customers stay with spexhost, when they leave, the account will be disactivated.
Ordering
What is the difference between an IRCd and Non-IRCd shell?
IRCd, which means Internet Relay Chat Daemon, is an IRC server. It is what users connect to when they chat. These take up a lot more bandwidth and resources than other processes such as BNCs and eggdrops, which is why they are in a separate catagory.
How many outgoing connections can I have?
You are allowed One(1) connection per process. The exception is that you may have up to Four(4) connections to IRC per BNC process, with a max of One(1) BNC process per login.

Dedicated Servers
Can I change the hardware specs of my server?
Yes, you can change the hardware specs on your server. The speed of the updates may depend on the availability of the requested hardware upgrades. An upgrade to a different server plan is also always an option.
How do I ask for custom partitions?
Please make a mention of the required partition sizes while placing your order in the additional instructions section. Each server's partition sizes can vary greatly depending on the way the server is being used.
You may cancel your dedicated server with us at anytime. Simply login to our billing system and submit a ticket requesting the cancellation. We bill you on a monthly basis, and you are able to cancel your server with a mandatory 7-day notice before your next billing date.
Network
All SpexHost servers are hosted on fully-burstable non-capped 100mbit lines. We do not charge for bandwidth, but if we find you are using excessive resources we may suspend your account.
How stable/secure are your servers?
Our servers have DDoS-Protection which will make them less-prone to outages during DDoS attacks. This does not make our servers invincible during attacks. All users are strongly encouraged to backup all data on a daily basis (SpexHost is not responsible for loss of data, unexpected service outages, or downtime for scheduled maintainance)
Support
What should I do if I cannot login to my shell? Or if one of my processes is not running?
If you need your password reset, email support with your account name and server from the email you signed up with. If your processes are not running (or not showing up on IRC) check the process list in your shell using 'ps x'. If it is not there, it may have been terminated if you were running too many or otherwise breaking our Terms of Service. If this is not the case, restart it. If you cannot login to your shell due to network outages or any other problems, please report them immediately using our Contact Form.
This simple means that you incorrectly spelt (or forgot to set) your vhost. Visit our vhosts page and directly copy an IP address or vhost name into the command. This message appears because we block all of our main ip addresses (which the bouncers default to if it cannot lookup the vhost or the vhost you added does not exist!) from major networks.
Resellers
Can I resell my shell/BNC to other people?
SpexHost does not allow resale of any of their services without prior consent. You must email sales with a request for reseller at which time we can discuss pricing. (Yes, we offer reseller accounts)
Legal
Is adult content allowed on your servers/network?
Legal adult content is allowed on SpexHost servers. All content must adhere to our Acceptable Use Policy and all applicable US laws. SpexHost may require the customer to provide documentation meeting the requirements of 18 U.S.C. 2257 for their review. Any customer found to be in non-compliance with 18 U.S.C. 2257 or any other applicable law may have their account suspended or revoked without warning at our sole discretion.
