What is WHM?

In continuation to our “What is?” blog articles, today’s article is on WHM, the administration interface of cPanel.

WHM stands for WebHost Manager, and is the main interface for our reseller accounts.  WHM is used to automate and administer many aspects of the shared web hosting world.

When someone signs up for a reseller package at SpexHost, we create a reseller account in WHM with certain features enabled, allowing the reseller to create their own cPanel accounts, create web hosting packages, monitor the bandwidth and disk space of those accounts, and allowing access to many more features.

In the coming days and weeks, we will be covering more in-depth aspects of WHM, so check back often!

What is cPanel?

cPanel is a web hosting dashboard that allows you to easily control every aspect of your web site. With a graphical interface, cPanel allows you to manage your website with the click of a button.

So what exactly can you do with cPanel? Almost anything:

  • Manage Email Accounts
    • Email Forwards
    • Auto Responders
    • Mailing Lists
  • Manage Web Files
  • Manage Backups
  • DNS Editor (more on this later)
  • Password Protect Directories
  • MySQL / PostgreSQL Management
  • Over 50 “one-install click” applications!

This list is just a sample of all the features you get with cPanel. You can easily manage all of these and more by simply logging into your cPanel account!
